2019’s Brit Awards was a huge highlight in February’s musical calendar. On 20 February, thousands tuned in to see who would scoop one of these prestigious awards, and enjoy the incredible talent that donned the stage for the occasion, hosted by British comedian Jack Whitehall.

Undoubtedly, one of the most talked about performances was none other than the opening number by Hugh Jackman, showcasing the undeniable brilliance of The Greatest Showman. Although not nominated for any awards, the soundtrack featured for weeks in the charts with original numbers and covers from the ‘Reimagined’ album, and sold more than any other album in 2018! Even though the music didn’t fit into any obvious award categories as it was a movie soundtrack, the organisers needed to give it a nod somehow and what a spectacular way to do it!

George Ezra took home British Male while Jorja Smith bagged British female. The 1975 were big winners this year, being awarded best British Group and British Album of the Year for ‘A Brief Enquiry into Online Relationships’. The ones to watch on the music scene this year are Tom Walker, who walked away with best British Breakthrough act (best known for his incredible single ‘Leave a Light On’) and Sam Fender won the Critics’ Choice award.

Other winners in this mammoth ceremony were Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa for their single ‘One Kiss’, Little Mix and Nicki Minaj for their ‘Woman Like Me’ video, and of course Drake and the one and only Ariana Grande, who scooped best Male and Female international Solo Artist. We cannot miss a mention for the winner of the Brits Global Success award which went to the astounding Ed Sheeran (man, I love that guy!) and British Producer of the Year went to Mr Calvin Harris for the monster tunes he has given us. Well deserved!

Finishing up the spectacular show was Pink who not only wowed the crowds with a medley of her gorgeous songs showcasing her amazing voice, but also took home the Outstanding Contribution to Music award. Seeing her singing backstage with multiple outfit changes, aerial acrobatics, fire and rain… well, it pretty much sums up how awesome she really is!

Now that, is a well-rounded bunch of astounding musicians, giving us beautiful music. What a celebration!
