Eddy Smith sheds light on his music preferences and tells us what’s to come…
How would you describe your music?
A Soulful blend of Blues, Rock and Country.
Which artist/band would you say has been the most influential for you?
My vocal often gets compared to that of Joe Cocker, I remember getting chills the first time I heard his music, so I’d go with him.
If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?
The greatest hits of James Taylor – There is something about his music that really hits home with me, it’s all heart and soul, I think that’s what music lacks these days.
What is your involvement with Junior Star Singer?
I’ll be co-presenting a few of the radio shows with Amanda Neal and performing for some of the young singers at the showcase on the 24th.
What advice would you have for any young people wanting to pursue a career in music?
Work hard at your craft; never stop improving and bettering yourself as a musician. Try your hardest to create opportunities for yourself and don’t get discouraged if good fortune doesn’t always come your way. Remember there is no rush; take your time, allow your music to mature naturally and develop your skills until you are ready to put yourself out to the world.
What can we expect from you music-wise in the future?
My band and I are releasing our debut album this year. We are currently performing a lot at venues around London. More info can be found on our website – https://www.eddysmithmusic.com
